We just finished meeting with several of the doctors who are covering Kate's case, and what we've been told, is that her test results are showing that all of her measurables have rebounded to healthy levels! They've told us that she should be able to go home WITH Clayton tommorrow (Monday) afternoon! * Update: Its looking like Tuesay at 12:00 due to some final shots that Clayton needs to get before leaving the NICU.
It's been a unique experience, from the time I picked her up at school, to where she is right now - all of the confusion and stress culminating with the explanations that we've recieved today from some very intelligent doctors.
As some of my updates have shown, this whole thing has been a unique situation from the beginning, and that point was driven home to us when the Hemotologist whom we've been working with said that whatever it is that Kate had, is only the 3rd time he's seen such a thing in his 30 years of practice. And actually, the other 2 came when he was doing his residency in Med School! What he said was a bit scary - this could have been fatal for Kate and/or Clayton, but what he also said was proof of Kate's toughness that I've been talking about - he said that she came out of this whole thing faster and better than the others he's seen or heard of!
They are still consulting amongst their peer's to put a name to what she had - but it was explained to me that this wasn't really Preeclampsia or HELLP or any of the other stuff we thought it was - but in reality it was related to a group of conditions that are possible in pregnancy, and then can turn around once the child is born. Lucky for Kate, the thing hit her late in her pregnancy, and we caught it fast. Also lucky for her, she rebounded quickly after Clayton's birth!
One thing is for sure - she is feeling so much better! Other than still being a little tired, she is moving around and acting so much more like herself again.
I'm relieved, as I know all of you are - she's finally back to herself again, and we'll be going home soon! Soon, the real fun will begin.

You all have been in my thoughts and prayers. I am so happy to hear that both Clayton and you, Kate,are getting better every day. Neal, sounds like you are doing a terrific job helping to take care of Kate and Clayton. I had a scary delivery and post delivery time as well, and I know you are appreciated by your family.
